PROUDLY SERVING THE COMMUNITY ONLY THE BEST IN SKATEBOARDING SINCE 2020
SKATEBOARDER OWNED
Yannick Wijgman started skateboarding back in 2000 and has since been fully consumed by the culture.
Collecting everything from skatevideos to magazines to stickers to even the packaging of wheels, bearings and what not.
"Watching skatevideos and reading magazines got me interested in documenting the life around me. So at a young age I picked up a camera, taking photos but especially filming with my friends.
When I started my first study in Arnhem in 2005 I got to know some of the locals and was picked up by the crew at Frisco Store. Slowly I would start hanging out at Frisco more and more and in 2007 I filmed the first edition of Spot the Spot.
That's when things really started for me and I got more serious about filming skateboarding and got more involved with the skatescene. In 2009 I released my first full length video and since then I never stopped filming.
Together with Frisco we made several edits and in 2011 we released a full length video, I organised several video premieres of international skatevideos and through Frisco me and three friends started a skateboard distribution.
That got me more involved in 'the industry' and when Frisco quit in 2015 I felt the responsibilty to continue what had been built up in Arnhem by Frisco Store and Joey's Sk8paleis. 5 years later I made that dream come true and opened up Public" - Yani
THE SHOP
Our carefully curated selection of brands has an emphasis on skateboarder owned brands.
With the softgoods selection we focus on the stuff that not every shop has already. Also we prefer to for instance just sell on of each hat instead of selling 10 of the same hats.
Keeping our selection of hardware as complete as can be for us is a must, meaning all available trucks sizes and accompanying parts, a wide variety of board dimensions and shapes, wheels in every diameter, durometer and shape. A skateshop without the possibility of fixing your axles, changing the wheelbase or just re-gripping your board is not a skateshop to us.
In our opinion a lot of knowledge got lost in the transition of skateshops turning boutique shops. So we take pride and pleasure in passing on our experience of 25+ years of skateboarding and dive into details when it comes to the technical aspects of skateboarding.
Call us nerds, but specialisation in 2026 is hard to find in any field.
THE COLLECTION
The shop's name actually comes from making the private collection a publicly accessible collection, to inspire new generations and for the older generations to reminisce about their younger days.
With over 2000 skateboard magazine and books, over a 1000 videos, containers full of stickers and other memorabilia it is one of the biggest accessible skateboard media collections in Europe.
For our 5 year anniversary in 2025 we had the first exhibition with non other than our good friend Soy Panday. And we're now working on the next exhibitions, varying between guest artists and showcasing our own collection.
The library is a non-profit, so we are dependent on people donating the stuff that is collecting dust on their attic.
OUR GOAL
Having a safe space where everyone feels welcome has been the most important thing since day one.
Skateboarding has always been a place for misfits. Despite toxic behaviour and attitudes making into our culture through society, it has always been a place for everyone of all backgrounds and genders.
